Main profession only?
Is there an advantage to choosing say warrior and nothing else? or being ONLY a monk with no combination? ie. different/more spells?

Disapointed origanally only had to have 1 profession now we get forced to take second to go there it takes away the choice you want to make they should make it to 1 profession again because not everyone wants that second string attached im play Necro and enjoy being a pure class on its own gives me the chance to explore what they can really do. If i get a second profeesion and add monk or anything else to it and not use any of there skills people will think since he is necro/monk he can heal us in battle and so on giving the wrong impression.
So im asking for you to rethink the 2nd profession thing give ppl the choice of what they want not forcing them to take it just to continue to the next area. Last edited by SA_DEMON; May 06, 2005 at 10:05 AM // 10:05.. |

Well, I do think it's cool that it TELLS you you can take a second proffession now, but you're right once it tells you you should have the option to say "No, thanks" Though personally I like being a Warrior/Monk. of course if anyone thinks I'll be healing them as that combo they can forget it, I'm a smitter not a healer! hehe

Well since in the beta you didnt need the 2nd to go i dont see why they had to go and change it dont think anybody complained about it saying they didnt want to be 1 class to goto academy.

Yeah, I don't want a second profession either.... when I found out you HAD to take one I got upset and stopped playing...... although, I guess you could always take the second profession and just never ever use any of the skills for it...

Well, even if you need a second profession, you can simply not use its skills or attributes. Your armor is determined by your primary, so you can essentially play a pure class if you want. You might find that it's hard to find enough useful skills early on, though, without using some from the secondary; that's especially true for Warriors, as many of their skills are weapon-dependent.

Well i made a PvP Character and they give them the option of not having the second profession which now seems really unfair. And i would take a second profession if as i stated earlier people seeing any of the other professions added to your character automatically asumes that you are using that 2nd putting you in a tight spot (ie:PvP or Quests) they should have stuck to you can get your 2nd after the academy if you wanted.
I dont think they get around to reading this because this is a big concern to me and making the game more flexible to varied players. |

yeah, but SA_DEMON raised a good point, which is that people will assume that you're using your secondary when they see it. My character is a mesmer, and that's all I want her to be. there are no skills in any other profession that interest me. What I *don't* want to have happen is for me to pick up monk or ranger as secondary just to hit searing, and then group with people later on in life who keep asking me for heals when I have NO healing skills, etc..... |

then TELL them you have no heals for them before you go out
it was BETA you played and betas change to the final version there were many more complaints about coming out of the academy crippled with one profession because they did not make it clear enough it was a one way trip. they solved it neatly by having the secondary as a requirement to the academy you dont have to use a point of it it costs you nothing you can change it later if you want to pick something besides monk and nobody will expect healing from you and since you will never use the secondary it doesnt matter what you pick |

Yeah.... I guess we'll just have to suck it up.... I was really looking forward to having no secondary though. Maybe there will one day be a way to avoid it or remove them.

Right, if you're a Mesmer/Warrior then no one's going to ask you to tank. Warrior's probably the best second profession to have if you don't want to use it. There really would be a lot more complaints if people could accidently leave Pre-Searing without a Second Profession. Of course, they could probably fix that by letting you pick a second profession post-searing if you don't have one. |

Okay i know a lot of people complained about that i dont mind making a char with 2nd proffesion but i want to do it because i want to not because im being told to. And yes i have done that with my PvP char to do a test and out of 10 pvp matches 8 times they wanted me to heal them after i explained it and being insulted by people because of a second proffession not being used is a game killer for me.

I chose Warrior/Monk for one reason, I need the monk Res spell for stupid henchmen. Other than that though, I do not use monk for anything. Im a 9 hammer, 9 strength warrior right now.

Even if it was Beta it worked having a single proffesion to go to searing and had no trouble handling it as i saw with a lot of other players.
Well Loviatar they could have placed a lvl requirement instead. And thats where i end this. Last edited by SA_DEMON; May 06, 2005 at 07:42 PM // 19:42.. |

Very Disappointed
There was many reasons why I bought and played the beta... I wanted to learn this game and beta was the best way to go .... I very much like the idea of being 100% of any of those proffession they offered because no other game that I have played even offed any of them in this way... So yes it was very much of a challenged for me to build a staright up Elementalist, or Monk, or Warrior, or the other proffession they have.I was hoping they would let you have 6 chars so you could learn the full extent of them but it was okay with 4 for now. But to be told I have to have a 2nd proffession...no I am not happy with that. This game offers so much in choice and play that it just makes no sense to me that they offer before you go to the Academy ...but not just that they could offer as you won and got into the Academy then offer to you ...I don't like my char multi class cuz I role play but yes in pvp and team it is a wise thing to have and since I am not a really big fan of pvp I was happy with the role play of this side of the game... for this will lay heavy for me cuz i bought 3 special edition for ppl and the beta for all of us to play to see if this was a game worth investing in and we all agreed it was now just to be told we have to have a 2nd proffession well ...like I said It will lay heavy for me, this might be another game sitting on the shelf...... and alot of money wasted ... I really like the idea of working hard and leveling my char in one proffession I like to see what the char can do before I would even think of multi class a char ... A char has to be missing something for me to multi class it ....thank you

your secondary has no effect on what you look like and if you put no points into it your primary will be purely primary *sigh* as for working hard leveling your character did you even bother to read that this is not a leveling grind game to begin with |
